CEMAST: excellence in training and skills

Skills training: CEMAST

Fareham College’s  Centre of Excellence in Engineering, Manufacturing and Advanced Skills Training (CEMAST), based in the Solent Enterprise Zone, provides top-quality training to more than 900 students a year, and offers opportunities to gain experience in the marine, automotive and aerospace industries.

The college’s curriculum has been created in partnership with local industry, to focus on the most relevant and up-to-date techniques. This has helped it become the main learning centre for apprenticeship programmes with companies such as BAE Systems, GE Aviation, Virgin Atlantic, Burgess Marine, the MOD and Jensen Motorsport.

“The facilities here are fantastic. We have equipment here which I don’t have access to at work so I make the most of my opportunities here. The teachers are so knowledgeable too.”

“I was attracted to CEMAST because of its links with industry which include BAE Systems, Vector and Airbus. That’s really important – it shows you the choices and opportunities available after college.”
